We are thrilled to launch the Places4Wellbeing toolkit that we developed in partnership with Evergreen. This innovative tool is designed to measure the impact of public spaces on subjective wellbeing, provide new ways to engage with community, and demonstrate the power of public place. This work marks a significant step forward in our shared commitment to centering community voices to inform decision-making and guide investment in social and economic infrastructure.
About the Toolkit
The Places4Wellbeing toolkit is a practical framework that guides community organizations in evaluating the social impact of public place initiatives. This dynamic resource comprises multiple tools developed by Evergreen and expert partners, providing users with actionable resources to improve their understanding of the quantifiable benefits of public spaces.
The toolkit is intended for anyone interested in building and improving multi-solving public spaces—and in showcasing the importance of public spaces for the wellbeing of both people and planet. By offering a consistent standard for monitoring and evaluation, it enables other community organizations to access and use the toolkit, contributing to a collective effort to build the case for place in Canada.
Impact Meets Community Development
This tool will help build the case for place—supporting organizations in generating insights that contribute to improved public spaces, more resilient communities, and infrastructure that supports positive social outcomes.
At Davis Pier, we believe there is significant opportunity to unlock government investment and better utilize private sector dollars in public spaces by collaborating across health, social, and infrastructure sectors. By working together to develop solutions that integrate public space with health, housing, and education investments, there is opportunity to expand the positive impact of better public spaces on people across the whole spectrum of the social determinants of health.
By bridging the gap between wellbeing research and practice, we equip policy makers and practitioners with the tools to measure impact in ways that haven’t traditionally been easy to measure—and leverage it to guide investment in initiatives that matter to people’s lives.”
