About AspireAtlantic
The work to recruit, retain, and train more people in skilled trades is critical to how we’ll tackle the challenges facing housing, healthcare, and infrastructure in Atlantic Canada. And, employment services models like the one used for AspireAtlantic can help ensure we’re creating opportunities for people to find meaningful employment and a path to advancement.
AspireAtlantic is not just another study—it’s a mission-driven initiative that implemented and tested an evidence-based employment services model in Nova Scotia.
Project Vision: Bring together service providers and sectoral partners to facilitate the connection between jobseekers and employers, all while gathering crucial evidence and testing the effectiveness of a sectoral workforce development program.
Project goal: Move unemployed and underemployed individuals into sectors brimming with middle-skill job openings and ample opportunities for career advancement. To achieve this, we’ve recruited over 100 dedicated participants and have provided them with career readiness training, occupational skills training, and post-employment advancement coaching. The results are impressive, with approximately 60 participants already employed or actively engaged in interviews.

Additionally, we’ve partnered with key organizations like the Immigrant Services Association of NS (ISANS), Digby Adult Learning Association (DALA), MetroWorks, Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council – ICI, Atlantic Home Building and Renovation Sector Council, and Excellence in Manufacturing Consortium.
Together, we are shaping the future of employment in Atlantic Canada.
